the earthgrids are averages of a standard NASA satellite montage of the Earth in true color
without clouds. If the world were averaged along gridlines on this equirectangular projection, these are the colors that would result. I took things a step further and actually purchased paint from Home Depot to create canvas version of these grids. (Unfortunately, the 4x2 became
damaged and I was able to salvage only the green square.) The photographs are not color-corrected and serve mostly as a proof-of-concept.
